If you’ve driven by the high school lately, you may have noticed some big changes underway! Our Advanced Skilled Trades class is hard at work transforming the landscaping around the building.
Student crew leaders designed the project from start to finish, creating plans, budgets, and presentations to bring their vision to life. With help from their classmates, they’ve already begun clearing, shaping, and preparing new landscape areas.
Students have put in hours both in and out of class, and we can’t wait to see the finished result. We’re incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication to improving our school!

🚌 School Bus Driver Spotlight 🚌
Our school bus drivers play an essential role in Genoa Area Local Schools each day by transporting students safely to and from school, athletic events, and activities while helping maintain a positive, respectful environment on every route.
They are a key part of our daily operations, working early mornings, afternoons, and in all kinds of weather to keep our students moving safely and on time.
We are also currently looking to add to our transportation team. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a school bus driver, we would love to connect and share more about available opportunities.

We’re proud to share that several of our GMS students recently participated in the 2026 BGSU Middle School Academy Band! This incredible experience brought together middle school musicians from across Northwest Ohio to rehearse and perform alongside peers while being guided by experienced directors and BGSU Music Education students.
Throughout the program, students rehearsed weekly at BGSU’s Kobacker Hall and wrapped up their experience with a fantastic concert performance.
We’re so proud of their hard work, dedication, and representation of GMS. Way to go!

Our 2nd graders, led by Chelsea Wyss, put on a wonderful program on Wednesday, April 15th! Their performance was inspired by the book Rhythm of the Rain and beautifully brought the story to life.
Students sang, played instruments, and helped narrate the story while incorporating songs that connected to the theme. It was a creative and engaging performance that showcased their hard work and talent.
They did a fantastic job, and we are so proud of their effort and enthusiasm! 🎶🌧️

We were proud to celebrate our outstanding seniors at the Ottawa County Top 10 Banquet on April 15th 🎓
Genoa Area Local Schools honored our Top 10 seniors along with the educators who made a lasting impact on their journey. It was a great evening recognizing the hard work, dedication, and support behind their success.
We’re also excited to share that Caleb Widmer was named one of just six recipients of the Earl J. Johnson Scholarship, an incredible achievement!
