A little look at what some students are creating in Painting 1 class at GHS.
Students are busy creating their free choice watercolor paintings, using techniques such as wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry while exploring washes, layering, blending and texture. Given the freedom to choose their own subject matter, each student is finding a way to make those skills work for their own ideas and style.

🧩 Thinking outside the box!
What happens when you give students a puzzle… but take away the picture on the box? You get teamwork, creativity, problem-solving, and a whole lot of critical thinking!
Students worked together in small groups to piece together a puzzle without seeing the final picture. They had to try different strategies, use the resources available to them, communicate with one another, and most importantly, trust the process.
Sound familiar? These are the same skills students use every day in math and across all areas of learning. You don’t always know what the final answer looks like. You have to work through the problem, learn from mistakes, and keep going.
We love seeing our students think, collaborate, problem-solve, and have a little fun while they’re at it!
Here’s to a year of learning, growing, and thinking outside the box! ☄️

September 11, 2001
Twenty-five years later, we still remember.
Genoa Area Local Schools would like to honor and remember the innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, the families who continue to carry their loss, and the brave first responders and everyday heroes who ran toward danger to help others.
We remember the lives lost.
We honor the heroes who showed extraordinary courage.
We stand with the families who continue to carry their loss.
And we remember the unity, compassion, and strength that brought our nation together.
May we never forget not only what happened that day, but also the courage, kindness, and sense of community that followed.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

🐔🥚 Which Came First: The Chicken or the Egg?
Our 9th grade Physical Science Comets put on their scientist hats last week to tackle one of the oldest questions around: Which came first—the chicken or the egg?
Students didn’t just pick a side—they had to prove it! Using evidence and reasoning, they created CERs (Claim, Evidence & Reasoning) to support their conclusions, then investigated, debated, and defended their thinking like true scientists. 🔬🧠
And the official Comet verdict? Most students voted for… the chicken! 🐔🏆
We love seeing our students take big questions, think critically, and use evidence to back up their ideas!
