Congratulations to the outstanding students recognized at the Genoa High School Top 20 Banquet held at Sunrise Banquet Center! 🎓✨
The evening celebrated the top 20 students in each grade level, 9–12, based on GPA and academic achievement. Students, families, and staff gathered to honor the dedication, perseverance, and hard work these Comets have demonstrated throughout the school year.
A special thank you to Dr. Matthew Widmer, GHS Class of 2002, for serving as our guest speaker and sharing words of encouragement with our students.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Genoa Academic Committee (GAC) for organizing, planning, and running this incredible event each year. Their volunteer efforts make this special evening possible.

We were proud to take three of our students to the Nine to Five Awards Ceremony, where students in grades 10–12 from NPESC districts are recognized for their growth from September through May.
This event celebrates improvement in attitude, attendance, academics, and overall school performance—and these students truly embody that progress. We are so proud of the hard work, determination, and growth they’ve shown this year. Keep it up! 👏

Lizzie, one of our GHS Independent Studies Art students, just took creativity to another level—and it paid off with a winning project 🎉
Starting with nothing but a “gift” of assorted patterned papers, she hand-cut every single piece and transformed them into a stunning exterior for a highly intricate mask built on her own armature. But she didn’t stop there…
Inside, the mask features custom wiring and a remote-controlled lighting system that shifts in dynamic ways, glowing dramatically through the eye. And the tail? It’s fully responsive—moving in sync with the wearer’s body.
An incredible blend of craftsmanship, engineering, and imagination. So proud of this achievement

Our 5th and 6th grade musicians took the stage recently for a fantastic concert! 🎶 We loved seeing our 5th grade band, along with our 6th grade band and choir, share their hard work and talent. Great job to all of our students!

If you’ve driven by the high school lately, you may have noticed some big changes underway! Our Advanced Skilled Trades class is hard at work transforming the landscaping around the building.
Student crew leaders designed the project from start to finish, creating plans, budgets, and presentations to bring their vision to life. With help from their classmates, they’ve already begun clearing, shaping, and preparing new landscape areas.
Students have put in hours both in and out of class, and we can’t wait to see the finished result. We’re incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication to improving our school!
