8th Grade students in Mr. Mathews Career Connections class recently wrapped up their career investigation unit. Students researched career interests, colleges and job training, and wrapped up by participating in a mock job interview. Big thanks to Superintendent Cody McPherson & Director of Curriculum and Counseling Coral Smith for taking part in interviewing the students! #FutureReady

Breakfast With a Loved One at the Elementary was a smashing success! Thanks to our PTO, 1500 delicious donuts were ready for you! Before the game tonight, we will honor our High School Staff on their 4.5 star state rating! Kick-off is at 7, we will see you there!

GHS Juniors, Class of 2027, had an awesome time at the University of Toledo’s Finances 101 event! Students learned extremely helpful tips on budgeting, saving, and managing money for the future all of which help create Future Ready Citizens for our Comet Community!

Our 6th grade scientists have been diving into experimental design and learning how scientists collect and analyze data. This week, students explored the triple beam balance as a tool for measuring mass. By weighing popcorn kernels, they discovered and graphed the linear relationship between the number of kernels and their total mass. This hands-on investigation not only strengthened their measurement skills but also highlighted the importance of accuracy and patterns in scientific research.

Kindergarteners in Mrs. Mullen's class are learning and growing each day as they explore new ideas, develop important skills, and gain confidence in themselves as curious, capable learners.

Last month, Genoa High and Middle School celebrated their annual Start with Hello Week, a time dedicated to fostering inclusion, empathy, and connection while reducing feelings of isolation. Throughout the week, students took part in small acts of kindness, made new friends, identified trusted adults, and learned how to recognize the signs of social seclusion. The experience served as a powerful reminder of what it means to be a true Merchant of Hope within the Comet Community.

In STEAM class, our 6th graders have been busy designing, building, and play-testing their very own board games. This hands-on project combined creativity with critical thinking as students worked through the entire design process, including brainstorming concepts, creating prototypes, refining rules, and improving their games based on peer feedback.
Along the way, students practiced math and logic through scoring systems, applied engineering principles with iteration and redesign, and showcased artistic skills in the visual elements of their games, with one group even 3D printing their own game pieces and dice. Collaboration and communication were key as classmates tested each other’s ideas and offered suggestions.
The project not only ended with a fun game day but also highlighted how Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math naturally connect in real-world problem solving.
