Holiday spirit was in full swing at Genoa Elementary! Teachers jumped into the action with fun Minute to Win It games in the gymnasium, while students cheered them on! What a great way to build community and celebrate together before the Break! We will see everyone back at school January 6th.

Positive behavior pays off at Genoa Elementary! Students who demonstrated positive choices and great character throughout the 2nd quarter earned a sweet reward, decorating Christmas cookies with friends. We’re proud to celebrate Comets being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe!

The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear! This morning, our 8th grade choir spread holiday joy by singing carols for our elementary students as they arrived at school. They also made a special stop at the Board Office to share even more Christmas cheer. What a wonderful way to start the day!

Genoa Middle School proudly hosted North Point ESC’s second VEX IQ Robotics Competition, welcoming teams from Port Clinton and Edison. The event was filled with energy and impressive robot performance. Congratulations to Genoa for taking home first place and some well-earned hardware!

Christmas spirit week themes!

Our High School Leadership Class took on a card tower challenge this week, working in teams to see who could build the tallest, most stable structure. After the activity, students discussed how difficult it is to build something strong, yet how quickly it can collapse.
They connected this idea to leadership: the hard work it takes to rise to a leadership role, and how a single decision can cause a rapid fall. Over the next few days, students researched and presented on real public figures whose careers followed this pattern. Powerful lessons in teamwork, integrity, and the responsibility that comes with leadership.

Congratulations to our High School Student and Athletes of the month for November!

High School Geometry classes introduced proofs with UNO. This activity introduces the patterns of proofs in the contexts of a game that they all know and love. The students were given a starting card and an ending card, they had to use patterns from the game rules to connect from the start to the finish. Next week they will learn how to transition into Algebra Proofs, followed by Geometric Proofs.

Elementary students are diving into our annual Balloons Over Broadway celebration today! Each grade level is contributing in its own creative way. K–2 students are designing and decorating festive paper plate balloons, experimenting with colors, shapes, and imagination. Grades 3–5 are taking on a bigger engineering challenge, building full balloon models using planning, design, and problem solving skills. This hands-on project blends art, creativity, and innovation, giving students the chance to bring their ideas to life while honoring the tradition that inspired it.

We are excited to share that 14 outstanding pieces of student artwork were selected by Mrs. Combs and Mrs. Cable to be displayed on the walls of the Genoa Board Office. Our artists were recognized at the October’s Board Meeting. Congrats!

During library visits our 2nd thru 5th graders participated in hands on career stations to learn what it’s like to work in education, manufacturing, IT, and health science. They’ll continue exploring new career paths each month all year long. Thank you to Penta Career Center for providing this wonderful experience!

High School students in Mr. Dempster's "Civil War through Multimedia" elective were visited by Mr. Thomas Bergman from the Genoa Historical Society! Mr. Bergman discussed "Genoa in the Civil War" and presented information and primary sources about some of the regiments composed of people from Genoa (including ancestors of some of our current students).
The fascinating presentation complemented the materials our students had been using and studying this semester to learn as much about the Civil War as they could.
We sincerely thank Mr. Bergman, Ms. Katie Blum and Ms. Meghan Parker (Branch Manager at the Genoa Branch Library) for organizing and presenting this information to our students!
