Our 7th grade Honors ELA students are diving into rhetorical analysis!

Students chose a speech of their interest to analyze and are examining the rhetorical choices the speaker makes to achieve their purpose. They’ll be using their analysis to write an essay explaining how specific strategies help the speaker accomplish their goal.

It’s exciting to see them thinking critically about how words, structure, and persuasive techniques shape powerful messages!

We’re thrilled to share that Millie Wilcox has been named Overall Runner-Up in the 2026 National Congressional Art District Show! She also received a sponsored award from The Tile Club of Toledo.

This highly selective, juried show includes hundreds of entries from across the 9th Congressional District, making this an incredible achievement. Millie’s artwork will be on display at the Toledo Museum of Art through March 27.

In 7th grade math, students were working to create a scale drawing of the classroom. To do this, students first needed to find accurate dimensions of the room. After that, they needed to use the given scale to scale the dimensions down. Then, they could draw a scale version of the room on a piece of paper.

Today we celebrate excellence and impact.

Congratulations to our Genoa students who have been recognized as part of the Ottawa County Top Ten. Your hard work and leadership have set you apart, and we are so proud of you!

As part of this honor, each student selects an educator who made a lasting difference in their journey. We are excited to share that nine of our staff members will be recognized at the ceremony this April , with one staff member chosen by two students, a true testament to their influence.

What a powerful reminder of the difference strong relationships make.

During elementary parent pick-up this afternoon, the District was notified of a police pursuit on State Route 51. As a precaution, the elementary school immediately implemented a soft lockdown. Buses were directed to pull into safe locations until an all-clear was issued by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

At no time were students or staff in danger.

The situation has now been controlled by county and local law enforcement and emergency services. PM elementary drop-off has resumed. However, parents should expect some delays this evening.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

The students in Mrs. Eck’s 5th grade science class have been learning about the planets. Using the “Planet Beach Balls,” they arrange themselves in the correct order from the Sun based on the planet they pick that day. At the start, they had 10 seconds to get into position, but after just a few days of practice, they’ve reduced their time to less than 5 seconds! 🌎☀️

Leadership Interview Challenge!

Students partnered up for an interview-style challenge with three tricky rules:
You can’t say “yes.”
You can’t say “no.”
You can’t repeat an answer.

What sounded simple quickly became a fun and laughter-filled challenge! Students had to think creatively and carefully while carrying on a conversation and following all three rules.

At the end of class, our top conversationalists even went head-to-head with the teacher to see who could keep the conversation going the longest!

During our reflection, students shared the challenges they faced and the strategies they discovered. They learned to expand on their answers, restate parts of the question to buy thinking time, and use a wider range of vocabulary. It was a great reminder of how communication skills grow when we step outside our comfort zones!
