Genoa Elementary honored Veterans Day today with a heartfelt celebration of gratitude and learning. Students heard third graders read the poem “Thank You, Veterans,” enjoyed songs performed by our second graders, learned about the significance of Taps, and even practiced creative hand motions representing all branches of the military.

A special thank-you to Local Scout Troop Pack 342 for opening and closing the ceremony by proudly presenting our nation’s flag.

Over 7% of our Comet Community has served or is actively serving in our military. We are so proud of our students for showing such respect and appreciation for those who have served!

This afternoon, Genoa High School proudly welcomed Veterans back to campus to honor their service and sacrifice. During the ceremony, Principal Cannon read aloud the names of Veterans submitted by our community, a deep reminder of the many heroes connected to Genoa as well as the sacrifice required for the freedoms we enjoy. Our High School Choir, joined by students, performed a beautiful rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner, filling the gym with pride and gratitude. Thank you to all who have served. Your courage continues to inspire the Comet community.

Today, our middle school students took time to honor those who have served our country during our Veterans Day remembrance assembly. Students learned the difference between Veterans Day and Memorial Day, heard a reading of Flanders Fields and the Presidential Proclamation, and enjoyed a performance by the 7th and 8th grade choir.

We were especially grateful to hear from Mr. Tom Baker, Genoa’s District Technology Coordinator, who shared his experiences serving in the U.S. Air Force.

The thespians at Genoa Area High School are excited to announce that they will present on stage "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" dramatized by Joseph Robinette from the story by C.S. Lewis, this coming November 21-23rd, 2025!

This dramatization of C.S. Lewis' classic work faithfully recreates the magic and mystery of Aslan, the great lion, his struggle with the White Witch, and the adventures of four children who inadvertently wander from an old wardrobe into the exciting, never-to-be-forgotten Narnia. The intense action features chases, duels, and escapes as the witch is determined to keep Narnia in her possession and to end Aslan's reign. All the memorable episodes from the story are represented in this exciting dramatization: the temptation of Edmund by the witch, the slaying of the evil wolf by Peter, the witnessing of Aslan's resurrection by Susan and Lucy, the crowning of the four new rulers of Narnia, and more. The supporting characters are also here: the unicorn, the centaur, and other forest animals, along with Madame Christmas, Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, and Tumnus the Faun. This story of love, faith, courage, and giving, with its triumph of good over evil, is a true celebration of life.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe opens Friday, November 21st, and runs through Sunday, November 23rd, with Friday's performance at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday's performances at 2:30 p.m.

Early ticket sales are available starting on Monday, November 10th, in the HS office. Adult tickets are $8, and Student/Senior tickets are $5. Cash and check only. Tickets will be sold at the door during our performances, but only cash will be accepted.

On Friday, our elementary students held their annual parade for Halloween! Led by the Genoa High School Marching Band, families gathered around the football field as students and staff marched with their classrooms around the track, excitedly wearing their costumes!
