We understand that some families may be facing challenges in meeting everyday needs, especially when it comes to putting food on the table.
If your household is experiencing financial hardship or food insecurity, there are several local programs and supports available to assist with groceries, meals, and other essential needs:
Local Food Pantries and Meal Programs:
A list of area food pantries can be found below. Many offer weekly grocery distributions and community meals for families in need.
Weekend and Holiday Meal Bags:
Our school provides meal bags for students during weekends and school breaks to ensure continued access to nutritious food.
Community Assistance Organizations:
Local agencies can provide support with food, utilities, housing, and other basic needs. Contact information for these organizations can be found below.
If your family could benefit from any of these services, please reach out to our school social worker, Mr. Matthew Kaczynski 419-855-7741
mtkaczynski@genoaschools.com ext 2910. He can offer confidential assistance and help connect you to available community resources.
Together, we can make sure every Comet family feels supported and cared for.

On Monday, Apptegy, our mobile app provider was impacted by the widespread Amazon AWS outage and part of that impact caused guardians specifically on iOS devices being unable to get logged in. This was resolved early this morning. If users are still experiencing this, we recommend having them force-quit the app and relaunch to try to log in again. If that doesn't work, have them delete and reinstall the app. And then, if it still persists that they cannot log in, try restarting the device. However, we should not see any widespread login issues for guardians at this time.
Please feel free to reach out to the technology department if you are still having issues. You can email
tdbaker@genoaschools.com or call 419-855-7741 ext. 3906 and we'll be happy to assist you.

In ELA, our 6th graders read about the heroic service dogs who helped during the 9/11 tragedy. They learned how these specially trained dogs and their handlers worked tirelessly in rescue and recovery efforts, offering hope and comfort in one of our nation’s most difficult times. Officer Nye and Hailey, our school therapy dog, stopped in to talk about the talents service dogs possess and how they are used in our society.
