Congratulations to the GHS Comet Concert Band for earning an Excellent (II) rating at the OMEA District 2 Adjudicated Contest! 🎶
Through snow days, delays, and a late start to contest music, these students showed incredible dedication and growth. We’re proud of the hard work they put in and the way they represented Genoa High School! ☄️
Congratulations to the Genoa High School Choir on an outstanding performance on Saturday at the OMEA District 2 High School Large Group Adjudicated Event! 🎶
The choir earned a Superior (I) rating, qualifying them for the OMEA State Event. This is the first time the choir has qualified for state since 2020. While they earned that honor then, the state event was unfortunately canceled due to the COVID shutdown. The last time Genoa’s choir was able to actually attend the state event was in the 1990s under director Mr. Edwards.
We are incredibly proud of these talented students and their hard work. We can’t wait to see them represent Genoa at the state level! 👏

Both the Genoa Girls and Boys Basketball teams have claimed District Championships and are heading to the Regional Tournament!

Friday, GHS students in grades 9–12 explored their futures at our Career Fair! 🎓
With 100+ career professionals representing skilled trades, healthcare, business, technology, civil service, and more, students had the opportunity to learn about real-world career paths. They also heard from guest speakers Jim Pollock from Junior Achievement and GHS graduate Nate Kehlmeier, Founder & CEO of the Recovery Institute of Ohio.
This event was organized and hosted by our Genoa Academic Committee (GAC). Thank you to everyone who helped make today possible for our students! 👏

Our 7th grade Honors ELA students are diving into rhetorical analysis!
Students chose a speech of their interest to analyze and are examining the rhetorical choices the speaker makes to achieve their purpose. They’ll be using their analysis to write an essay explaining how specific strategies help the speaker accomplish their goal.
It’s exciting to see them thinking critically about how words, structure, and persuasive techniques shape powerful messages!

We’re thrilled to share that Millie Wilcox has been named Overall Runner-Up in the 2026 National Congressional Art District Show! She also received a sponsored award from The Tile Club of Toledo.
This highly selective, juried show includes hundreds of entries from across the 9th Congressional District, making this an incredible achievement. Millie’s artwork will be on display at the Toledo Museum of Art through March 27.

In 7th grade math, students were working to create a scale drawing of the classroom. To do this, students first needed to find accurate dimensions of the room. After that, they needed to use the given scale to scale the dimensions down. Then, they could draw a scale version of the room on a piece of paper.
Today we celebrate excellence and impact.

Juniors and Seniors in Mrs. Kimpon’s Anatomy classes learned how to take vital signs today on their “patients”, which included manual blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates. They did great!
