Purple Star

Genoa Schools is proud to announce ongoing efforts to earn the Purple Star Designation from the Ohio Department of Education, a recognition awarded to schools and districts that demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting students and families connected to the U.S. military.

As part of this process, the district is currently gathering self reporting survey information from military-affiliated families. The feedback will help the district better understand the unique needs of military-connected students and guide the development of programs, supports, and partnerships that align with the Purple Star standards.

We value the service and sacrifice of our military families, and earning the Purple Star Designation is an important step in ensuring they feel supported, welcomed, and connected within our schools.

To make information easily accessible, the district has also created a dedicated webpage for our military community. Families can learn about available resources, upcoming events, support contacts, and the district’s Purple Star initiatives. The survey for military families is also linked on the page.

The district encourages all military-connected families—active duty, National Guard, Reserve, veterans, and those with immediate family members who have served—to complete the survey and stay engaged as the district moves forward in the Purple Star Designation process.
