Integrating the Smart Board into a Kindergarten Classroom
Thank you for visiting our teacher display at the 2008 eTech conference titled "Integrating the Smart Board into a Kindergarten Classroom". We hope you found our display helpful. Please find below a list of templates you can access and use for your own kindergarten routine.
Thanks,

A-Z Letter
Templates (66.2 MB)
Use these templates to locate the specific letter within the poem.
Listen to the letter song by pressing the picture for each poem.
Kids can come up to the smart board and circle all of the letters
found specific to the particular poem. For example the letter A
poem is The Apple Tree...kids can circle all of the letter Aa's
found and sing along to the song Apple Annie simply by clicking on
the apple tree picture.
Lunch Count/Question of the Day (115 KB)
When our kids enter the classroom each day they need to let us know
if they are buying their lunch or packing. They simply find their
name and move the icon to the respective choice. Next, they click
the arrow to move to the next screen and answer the question of the
day by dragging their name into the box that best describes their
answer.
Morning
Calendar Routine (19.7 MB)
This series of templates is what we do during our entire calendar
routine. It covers things such as calendar (monthly), weather,
counting & tallies, birthdays, graphing, songs & movement
participation, orientation to smart board writing, days of the
week, months of the year, long & short vowels, patterning, and
basic sight words.
Color
Sort & Songs (17.3 MB)
Use these templates as you introduce the colors and have the kids
circle objects for the colors you are learning. Touch the color
word and the song will play for that color and the kids can sing
along!
Holidays Around The World (1.5 MB)
We created these templates to learn about how other cultures
celebrate their "Christmas" holiday. Each template shows the flag
for the countries we "traveled" to and some specific points about
their holiday. We used the airplane on the first template to
prepare for departure and clicked on the website listed on pages 2
and 3 for the actual videos of take-offs and landings of airplanes.
A great interactive series of templates!
Sight Words (1.09 MB)
As part of our writers workshop our kids utilize the smart board to
practice the sight words of the week. They use the special markers
to practice writing the sight words on the lines. These are just a
few of our templates we use as sight words are being
introduced.
Alphabet Chant (5.49 MB)
This template introduces the letters and has pages for capital as
well as lower case. The kids can chant the letters and sounds as
they look at the pictures that correlate with the correct beginning
sound. Also, a template is here with vowels sounds both long and
short that have pictures for each sound as well.
